Yes. Xfinity does issue refunds in some situations, such as certain overpayments, eligible canceled-installation deposits, and credit balances after an account is closed. Eligibility and timing depend on your account and payment method. Read Xfinity’s refund information ↗

Important: This guide explains general information only. It cannot check your account, approve a refund, or tell you the status of a specific payment.

Common situations where a refund may apply

  • Overpayment: Xfinity says eligible current customers who overpaid by more than a full month of service may be able to receive a refund.
  • Closed account: A remaining credit balance may be refunded after the final bill is processed and required rented equipment has been returned.
  • Canceled installation: If you paid an eligible installation deposit and canceled, Xfinity says the deposit is generally returned to the last payment method on file.
  • Returned equipment: If you were charged an unreturned-equipment fee and later return the equipment, contact Xfinity to ask whether the fee can be reversed.
  • Eligible service or device return: Refund rules and deadlines vary by service and product. Check the applicable terms before returning a device.

How long can a refund take?

Timelines vary by situation and payment method. Xfinity’s published guidance says:

  • Eligible credit-card refunds for certain overpayments may take about 3–5 days.
  • Refunds for closed accounts may take about 4–6 weeks.
  • Eligible canceled-installation deposits may take about 7–10 days.

These are general estimates from Xfinity, not a guarantee for every account. See the official refund guide ↗ for details.

Steps to check a refund

  1. Review your latest bill and payment history to see whether the account has a credit balance or duplicate payment.
  2. Check whether your account is active or closed and whether any rented equipment still needs to be returned.
  3. Gather the payment date, amount, receipt or confirmation number, and the last four digits of the payment card if relevant. Do not share full card details with an unexpected caller.
  4. Sign in through Xfinity’s official website or app, or contact Xfinity through its verified support channels to ask about eligibility and status.
  5. If Xfinity emails you about claiming a refund, verify the message and destination carefully before entering information. Never share a password or one-time verification code with someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Remember: Refunds are not automatic in every situation. Xfinity must review the account and applicable terms before confirming whether a refund is due.
